Then the righteous will answer him, “Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink? And when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you, or naked and gave you clothing? And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and visited you?” And the king will answer them, “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.” (Matthew 25:37-40)

At the Church of the Ascension we are committed to Gospel living as we reached out to those in need. We have many opportunities for outreach in our own back yard of New Sudbury, locally in the Sudbury area, nationally, and internationally. In so doing we live out Christ’s great commandment to love our neighbours and we become Christ’s hands and feet in this broken and hurting world. Here’s how we do it:

We are the body of Christ in the world.

Prayer of St Teresa of Avila (1515-1582)
Christ has no body now, but yours.
No hands, no feet on earth, but yours.
Yours are the eyes through which he looks
With compassion on this world.
